Note to Parents:
Grade 3 had another successful week.
Math – Continuation of placement value and problem solving
Science – Studied various life cycles including that of the frog
Social Studies – Started decorating their “Me Box”
Language Arts – A focus on including interesting details in writing and reading assessments
A Note about Homework:
-- Grade 3 students are expected a maximum time of 45 minutes of homework per day. It would be to the benefit of each child if 15 minutes of reading is in addition to that time period. Additionally, with our new pilot Putonghua (Mandarin) Program, all students in grades 3-5 should expect to have nightly practice for homework.
-- A commitment to complete homework is essential for all students, however is should not be an unreasonable burden on either the student or the family. If you feel that your son or daughter is not coping, then please contact us.
-- Important Dates to Remember:
September 15, 2009 Back to School Night
-- Students, please remember: There will be a spelling test for our first unit on Monday. You may wish to practice writing each word. You can also practice using each word in a sentence so you are prepared for the test. Also, please remember to bring your planner to and from school each day and to log your reading minutes for each day of the week with your parent’s signature.
